Leak under the bath, but no access!!

December 13, 2011

An isolated damp patch to wall. Behind this wall is a bath

Having been looking for a long time now, I’ve finally found a property with a leaking pipe under a bath tub. This would be a really easy problem to fix if the builder had created a removable bath panel.

Never mind, a crow-bar and hammer are now required to break through the new tiling so the plumber can gain access to the leaking pipe.

Fixed ceramic tiling around the bath prevents access

I often find with refurbished properties that a lot of time and effort goes into making the interior look good, but with little or no regard to the issues of repair and maintenance.

It is vital to ensure that water and waste pipes are fully accessible just in case a water pipe should leak or a waste pipe becomes blocked.
